Tennessee Williams is one of the pillars of post-WWII theater and is considered one of America’s best dramatists. In this gripping masterpiece, Williams is at his best exploring the dynamics between parent and adult children, between siblings, and between dreams and reality.
Set in the 1930s Tom relives, with the audience, a specific memory in his life dealing with his controlling mother, Amanda, and his fragile sister Laura. His mother desperately wants her children to achieve success, but can’t give them the freedom to flourish.
A mother’s smothering love brings this fragile family to its shattering climax.
